the city

After recently talking to nick and realizing that he had never been to the Golden Gate I decided we would just have to spend a day in the city and ride across it. Hard to believe that anyone from the Bay Area hasn't been across the Golden Gate bridge. Not to mention he didn't know what Coit Tower is! Well anyway, we rode into the city, to a thrift town in the mission, and all the way out to the other side of the bridge and back to Powell. A highlight of the ride: mashing down Bay Street through traffic and passing all the cars. We had an awesome day, even when headwinds on the way to the bridge gave us hell, and riding brakeless seemed possibly foolish (I actually loved the skidding down steep hills). Long story short I brought my camera and was able to get a few shots when we weren't on the saddle.

there was a lot going down on the water across from Mason St.

We both had a fun day, it made me want to go back and spend all day riding around with my camera...I think I will before I go back to Chico

Indian Rock

The other day nick, ana, and I went to do some chillin at Indian Rock and a little bit in Berkeley. Nick and I brought our climbing shoes and Ana tried out my camera. (Ana took photo in high school). A few climbs later we went down to Buffalo Exchange where Ana got a $200 dress for $25, I got a pair of cream skinny jeans, and Nick got a little bold in the girls' section. Enjoy

We all had a great time climbing and messing around but to my dismay, nick did not purchase the yellow and black pants. Maybe next time

Lifeguarding

Being a lifeguard at Rancho Colorados swim and tennis club is one of the chillest jobs imaginable. I swear its the best job I'll have my whole life, even though I hope I'm wrong. Today I brought my camera to experiment with shooting in very bright light. Sadly I didn't really pay enough attention to shutter speed and most of the pictures sucked. It's annoying, but I know I'm learning. On a happier note, I move back up to Chico in a little under a month!! I'm so excited for my photo class, I can't wait!

Tomorrow I might be riding into the city with a few friends, if we cruise, I'll bring my camera for sure. regardless, I need to start bringing it everywhere I go.

Mission Workshop Vandal

I've always wanted one of mission workshop's backpacks since I heard about them nearly a year ago. I heard only good things, but have always been put off by the price tag. Yesterday, Nick and I rode into the city and stopped by to check out their warehouse-store on Rondel. We rolled up, stashed the bikes, and stepped in to one of the coolest stores I've seen in awhile. The staff was super friendly and I got a lot of solid info about the backpacks and ended up deciding on the Vandal. After riding around for just twenty or so minutes, I was in love with my vandal! With its weather-proof, expandable, adjustable, full of pockets, handmade tough construction, and lifetime warranty, I cannot praise it enough. As you can see I got it in blue, which is a color I had not seen before (and was told yesterday a color that they didn't make many backpacks with)...not sure if that's true or not but regardless, check out the vandal's capabilities below

All in all I love the functional, simplistic look of the Vandal and I can't wait to put it to real use in the driving rain this coming year at school. Thanks mission workshop!

back from the east.

After an insanely hot and humid week, I got back to the comfortably mild bay area late last night. We were all tired as hell, but glad to have gotten to see some of the family this summer. Family was chill, D.C. was sweet, and getting to see my sister was great. Shes pretty much a washington d.c. local now! I took a whole lotta pictures and going through them all is proving tedious, but still enjoyable. I'll have a good long post in the next couple days with some quality shots.

Got a camera!

Just yesterday my long-awaited slr showed up via ups! I am ecstatic! After much research and a decent amount of pondering, I decided on a Canon Rebel XSi. Awesome choice. It was about 100 dollars up from the XS, but certain features make it worth money that I was willing to let go of. I've spent almost half of my last 24hrs with my camera and I love it!! I have a lot to learn and am excited about stepping into the world of photography.

An assortment of captures from out-of-the-box, to fence hopping and hanging out in a local garden: enjoy

More to come soon as I explore the amazingness of this camera! Also, Tuesday I will be traveling to Pittsburgh, PA to see family, as well as Washington D.C. to visit my sister. I'll be snapping photos left and right I'm sure, so those will be on the way... cheers to summer.
